SAINT LOUIS – The La Salle softball team fell 9-0 in the series opener at Saint Louis on Saturday evening at the Billikens Sports Center.
SLU jumped on La Salle starter
Marlo Roadcap (L, 8-9) for five earned runs over 3.2 innings and tacked on four more runs against reliever
McKenzie Peace. The duo combined to hold the Billikens to just one run through the first four innings before SLU scored eight times in the 5
th to end the game.
SLU starter Maddie Baalman (W, 10-9) held La Salle to just three hits in five shutout innings, striking out seven compared to just one walk.
Mackenzie Obert,
Taylor Rohrbaugh and
Angelina Refice each had a hit for the Explorers.
The Explorers will look to turn things around in a Sunday doubleheader that is slated to begin at noon.
