PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle baseball team was downed 6-4 by A-10 opponent Davidson at home on a chilly Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning, but La Salle quickly tied the score just an inning later.
Kevin McGowan's single scored
Austin Constantini in the bottom of the third and then
Zach Wright and
Rafael Amanau scored on an error to tie it up in the fourth. Amanau would finish the game 3-for-4.
The Explorers took the lead in the fifth when
Brian Tagoe's groundout advanced
Ben Faso across the plate.
Davidson needed four pitchers to take the game home after its starter came out in the seventh. La Salle's offense threatened a few times but wasn't able to put another run home.
Luke Reilly struck out seven batters over seven innings as the starter. In relief,
Jorge Jimenez struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings.
Jackson Ray struck out the only batter he faced. In all, the three pitchers fanned 16 Davidson hitters.
La Salle plays Davidson again tomorrow at 11:00 AM at Hank DeVincent Field.
