PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (14-16, 4-5) fell 5-1 to the George Washington Colonials (18-17, 3-6) in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at West Campus Field.
The Colonials scored twice on three hits in the 1
st inning against
Marlo Roadcap (L, 7-6), but the lefty settled down to hold the visitors scoreless for the next four frames. GW added three runs on three hits in the 7
th before La Salle got on the board in the home half.
Taylor Rohrbaugh and
Emma Schweigert worked back-to-back walks in the 7
th before a Val Pineiro single scored pinch runner
Lauren Morell. La Salle eventually loaded the bases with two outs but GW's Faith Weber (W, 3-4) induced a groundout to end the game.
The Explorers are home again next weekend as they host the Dayton Flyers for a three-game series at West Campus Field on Friday and Saturday.
