Lacrosse Falls in A-10 Quarterfinal

PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle lacrosse team ended the season on Thursday, April 4 when the team fell to Richmond in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 tournament. The Explorers fought a tough back-and-forth battle but ultimately were overcome by the Spiders in a tight 13-11 contest.

The Explorers held the Spiders down throughout the first half to control the lead at halftime 6-5. La Salle led by as much as two goals until Richmond netted three unanswered goals midway through the second half to gain a lead.

With a three goal deficit at 8-11, Nicole Black netted another goal for the Blue and Gold to close the gap. Allee Ilgenfritz followed up with a pair of goals to bring La Salle within striking distance at 12-11 with two minutes left in play.  

Richmond proved to be too much to overcome, netting another goal to conclude the game 13-11.

Ilgenfritz poured in five goals total to lead the team, while Toni Massetti added three in the final contest of their careers.
Courtney Woolford also scored her final goal in an Explorers jersey, while junior Brittany Edwards netted a goal in the Explorers effort.

Anna Gordon won four draws and picked up two ground balls for La Salle, while forcing one turnover. Woolford forced a game-high three turnovers and won two draws on the day.
Graduate student Alexis Henderson picked up three ground balls to lead La Salle in addition to causing one turnover.

In goal, Lucy Loughlin saved eight shots overher  45:26 in goal. Lynne Frankel recorded two saves in her 14 minutes.

La Salle finished the season 7-11 overall and 3-6 in the conference, while recording the team's first appearance in postseason play since 2014 with the hard-fought battle against Richmond.
