AMHERST, Ma.- The men's La Salle track and field teams will advance three runners to the finals in the A-10 Outdoor Championship, to be held on day two of the event at UMass. Several other Explorers are slated to compete for the first time on Sunday, May 7.
La Salle was represented in seven different events on the day and earned two points as a team to get the Blue and Gold started in the two day meet.
Justin Guerre secured himself a spot in the finals as the sixth fastest seed in the 100m dash, thanks to a time of 10.75. He will race again at 12:05 PM on Sunday. He also competed in the 200m dash, finishing 11
th, thanks to a time of 21.82 on the day.
Freshman
Anthony Hawthorne will race on day two of the A-10 competition, thanks to an eighth place finish in the 800m preliminary. He finished the event in 1:54.26 and will run on Sunday at 12:20 PM.
Ache Hall will race in the 400m final on Sunday at 12:40 PM, thanks to a career-best qualifying time of 54.71.
Michael Hagan also competed in the preliminary round, crossing the line in 59.10 on the day.
A pair of Explorers competed in the 3000m steeplechase for the Explorers.
John Pujols crossed the line seventh overall, thanks to a time of 9:26.20, while Nick LeFavor finished the event in 9:39.76 for La Salle.
In the 400m preliminary round,
Isaiah Akil sprinted to a career-best 49.08 to place 12
th on the day.
Dylan Titon and
Bradley Heuer ran in the 10000m event to place 13
th and 18
th, respectively. Titon registered a time of 31:49.23, while Heuer finished in 32:33.22.
Day two of the A-10 Championship will begin at 10:30 AM on Sunday, May 7.
