PHILADELPHIA - La Salle men's swimmers
Fabian Bergman and
Jerry Gravel were named to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-America Team as honorable mentions while both the men's and women's teams received Scholar All-America recognition.
Bergman, a junior, and Gravel, a senior, were part of a record 997 swimmers and divers who qualified as an honorable mention. In order to qualify, students had to have achieved a GPA of 3.50 and a "B" time standard or competed at a regional or zone qualifying meet.
"Between the athletic and academic components required to receive the award, these really are some of the best of the best," CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield explained. "It really shows that excellence in the classroom and the pool can be achieved at any program – not just pockets here or there."
Additionally, both of head coach
Jamie Platt's teams were given Scholar All-America recognition. In order to qualify for the honor, institutions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2017 semester.
