Women's Water Polo | August 21, 2017

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's water polo team announced its freshman class Monday. The group includes seven newcomers who are expected to make valuable contributions with the program following its inaugural season. The freshman class will make an impact right away as it joins an already young team that includes nine sophomores, one junior, and no seniors.

"It's exciting to bring in so many talented individuals," said second year head coach Paul Macht. "These women all bring something special to our program. This is a really talented and smart group."

Jillian Delisle, a utility player, brings a balance of offense and defense to the team. Delisle, an Orlando, Florida, native, helped Olympia High School to a state championship as a senior and was a standout in the title game. Delisle led the team to a 31-0 record and was named to the All-Metro team, All-Area team, and "Miss Water Polo" by Florida Dairy Farmers Association for her courageous efforts. She filled up the stat sheet during her senior season with 65 goals, 52 assists, and 63 steals to close out her high school career.

Hollywood, Florida, native Madison Martinez should be a familiar face for Delisle as the two faced off in the state quarterfinals a year ago. Martinez, who attended South Broward High School, was named the All-Broward Girls Water Polo Player of the Year as a senior. Martinez finished the season with 62 goals, 33 assists, 61 steals, three blocks, and 14 drawn exclusions. She attended the same high school as teammate Racquel Jimenez.

Karle Linden is the lone newcomer from Pennsylvania. The Erie native was named team MVP as a senior and junior at McDowell High School where she was also the team captain and a scholar athlete. Linden received recognition from the conference as well, being honored as a first team All-Western Conference player in her final two seasons. As a senior, she recorded 55 goals, 79 steals, 33 assists.

Giselle Monsalve will make an immediate impact with the Explorers in the goalie position. Monsalve attended Coral Springs High School in Florida, where she finished her career as team MVP despite having never played water polo prior to her sophomore season.

Zoe Wilson joins the Explorers as the team's third player from California. Wilson, whose hometown is Moreno Valley, was a four year team captain, four year team MVP, and four year first team all-conference nod at Valley View High School.

Victoria Ashby joins the team from Stone Mountain, Georgia. She was named to Georgia All-State Women's A Team as a sophomore, junior, and senior.

Finally, Julianna Friese rounds out the 2018 recruiting class. A native of Sunny Isles, Florida, Friese was named Offensive Player of the Year at Miami Beach High School.
