PHILADELPHIA- Junior Mackenzie Karcher's first half goal was the lone point on the scoreboard as La Salle topped LIU Brooklyn on Sunday, August 25 at Hank DeVincent Field. The Explorers improve to 1-1 on the season after the first weekend of play. 

In the 1-0 contest that saw La Salle pressing into the Blackbird's defensive circle for most of the game, the Explorers took six shots before Karcher sent the ball past goalkeeper Molly Jannell.

Karcher scored in the 11^th minute of the first half for what would be the sole goal in the 70 minutes of play. Despite several attempts from the Blackbirds in the second half, the Explorers' defense held them down to a scoreless game.

In goal, Emma Provost made one save to defend the Blue and Gold net. Defender Katie O'Grady contributed a spectacular defensive save on a corner play from the Blackbirds to contribute to the scoreless team.

The Explorers will travel to Lehigh next on Friday, Sept. 1 to face the Mountain Hawks at 5:00 p.m. for the first away game of the season.
