Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. -
Soji Olatoye scored his first goal as an Explorer but the men's soccer team fell, 2-1, at the hands of DePaul on Friday evening. The match was the first of two this weekend in the Chicago Classic.
Olatoye's goal came off of a deflection in front of the net late in the second half. The Explorers had been trailing, 2-0, until that point.
The Blue Demons, who are the defending Chicago Classic champions, displayed a stifling defense that held La Salle to just four shots on goal -- two in each half. By comparison, La Salle had 14 shots in its first match earlier this season against Loyola (Md.).
Olatoye, a freshman, had two of the Explorers' shots. The others were recorded by
Garrett Keys and
Ryan Nork.
DePaul scored early in the first half on a penalty kick after a hand ball was called in front of La Salle's net. The Blue Demons doubled their lead early in the second half on a rebound off the cross bar.
La Salle goalkeeper
Cameron Keys made five saves in net.
The Explorers play Loyola (Ill.) on Sunday at 2:00 PM on ESPN3.
