AMHERST, Mass.- The La Salle field hockey team was turned away against defending A-10 champion UMass in a 3-1 contest on Friday, Sept. 29.

The Minutewomen got off to a hot start, firing a goal into the Explorers' net just over a minute into play to give themselves a 1-0 advantage.
Rialee Allen netted the Explorers' only goal of the game to score the second collegiate goal of her career. The rookie accepted a pass from
Mackenzie Karcher midway through the second half to equalize the score at 1-1.
The Minutewomen jumped ahead with a pair of goals, the first scored off of a penalty stroke to give the team a 2-1 advantage midway through the second half. Â The hosts limited La Salle to just one shot in the second 35 minutes of play to capture the game.Â

Emma Provost made six saves in the game against UMass.
Summer Pierson contributed her third defensive save of the season to stop the Minutewomen early in the second half.Â
With the loss, La Salle falls to a 2-2 split in conference play and a 5-4 record overall. The Explorers will be back in action on Sunday, when the team takes on Siena at 12:00 PM.Â
