Volleyball Stopped by Navy

PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle volleyball team was overcome by Navy on day one of the Valley Forge Sports Invitational in a 3-0 contest. The Mids came out as an unstoppable force to win the match with set scores of 25-16, 25-14, 15-18 at Tom Gola Arena.

The Mids leapt ahead in set one with a 7-2 lead to give themselves an advantage. Despite four kills from Devin Corah and three from Bryanna Davis, La Salle could not recover to close the gap.

With a 1-0 advantage, Navy stormed through the second set to top the Explorers in a 25-14 final, but La Salle was eager to battle back in set three. The Explorers were able to regain their footing to put pressure on the Mids in set three.

La Salle fired back to go point for point with the Mids to a 15-15 standstill, thanks to four kills from Corah and three from Madison Kuch. The Mids then used a five point run to take the lead of the set as the Explorers fell behind. With the advantage, the Mids were able to win the final set to secure the match.

Corah led La Salle with 10 total kills, while Samantha Graver and Kuch each posted seven. Graver also contributed 12 digs, while Jensen Sharrits added 10.  Kathryn Wood recordes 28 of La Salle 30 total assists.

Defensively, Kuch added two blocks with freshman Reilly Lowe, but it was not enough to stall the Mids on day one of the tournament.

La Salle will be back in action tomorrow, beginning at 11:30 a.m. when the team meets Siena to open the day at Tom Gola Arena. They will then face Robert Morris at 4:30 p.m. to conclude Saturday's events.
