RICHMOND, Va. - The La Salle University men's basketball team continues Atlantic 10 play on Saturday afternoon when it visits Richmond for an Atlantic 10 matchup at 2:30 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live nationally on NBC Sports Network, with Mike Corey and Ben Braun calling the action. An audio broadcast is also streamed online for fans, with play-by-play commentator
Kale Beers and analyst Rich Prendergast bringing you the game.
NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers will look to continue building momentum after a 75-67 win over Fordham at Tom Gola Arena on Wednesday night.
•Five different La Salle players reached double figures, the second consecutive game in which the team has accomplished the feat.
•Sophomore
Isiah Deas led the way with 15 points, and has scored 10 or more in each of his last five games (16.2 ppg over that stretch).
•Senior
Tony Washington also continued to shine offensively, scoring a season-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
•Washington has scored in double figures in all three of La Salle's games since Jan. 10.
•The Explorers dominated the rebounding battle against the Rams, outboarding their opponent by a 37-26 margin.
•Sophomore
Saul Phiri grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds while Washington and Deas each had eight.
•La Salle did a nice job of limiting mistakes, with just 10 turnovers against a Fordham team that ranks third in the league in forced turnovers per game (15.3).
•The game also marked the return of the A-10's leading scorer
B.J. Johnson, who had missed the prior two contests and five of La Salle's last six games due to an ankle injury.
•Johnson scored 11 points and had two steals in 25 minutes played.
SCOUTING RICHMOND
•The Spiders have won two straight Atlantic 10 games, including an impressive 67-52 road win over crosstown rival VCU on Wednesday.
•Grant Golden had 17 points to lead Richmond, who shot 53.7 percent from the floor.
•Richmond's defense was a key factor in the victory, holding the Rams to just 34.4 percent shooting and a dismal 4-for-23 (17.4%) from three-point range.
•For the season, Golden paces the squad at 15.0 points per game while De'Monte Buckingham, last season's A-10 Rookie of the Year, averages 12.7 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per outing.Â
•Five different players are averaging double figures in a balanced offensive attack for Richmond - Golden, Buckingham, Jacob Gilyard, Nick Sherod and Khwan Fore.
