PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's swimming team defeated Arcadia, 118-87, in the Explorers' penultimate home meet this season. Prior to the meet, members of the senior swimming and diving class were honored.
"It was great to celebrate our graduating group," said head coach
Jamie Platt. "They have certainly left a lasting impact on our program in the pool and out of the pool. It is a special group. Tonight was a great Friday night filled with races. The Philadelphia area is so rich in its swimming history and teams. Arcadia was able to make the quick trip here and I believe we all benefited from the meet."
The women started off on the right foot, besting the Knights in the 200 medley relay.
Natalie Simunek,
Maddy Koelsch,
Alison McDonough, and
Hannah Elliott, all seniors, finished the race in 1:53.41 for the top time.
Elliott had an outstanding night, winning three out of three events. Later on, she won the 200 freestyle (1:56.62) and the 500 free (5:12.61).
Senior
Rory Kearns won the 100 free (55.99) seconds.
Junior
Collin Kessinger was the top swimmer in the 100 IM, clocking in at 1:02.14. Just behind her was Koelsch.
Freshmen
Lizzie Nadolski and
Lilly Quinn finished one-two in the 50 fly. Nadolski's final time of 28.17 seconds was good for the top time.
Carrie Horan finished out the meet with a first place finish in the 50 breast, clocking in at 32.23 seconds.
The women are back in action on Saturday when the team hosts Mount St. Mary's (Md.) at 1:00 PM.
