PHILADELPHIA -
Fabian Bergman's time in the 200 yard backstroke broke his own record in the senior's last home meet as a La Salle Explorer. It also set a new record for the pool. Bergman clocked in at 1:44.01, over 16 seconds ahead of the pack. His previous record of 1:44.88 was set at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championships.
The men's team defeated Mount St. Mary's in wrapping up their 2017-18 home schedule.Â
Bergman was also part of the 400 medley relay team that finished first along with
Jakub Bartosiewicz,
Marcus Forsgren, and Norman Gregory.
In the long distance,
Kyle McElwee posted a win in the 100 free (9:42.34).
Aleksandar Nikolic won the 200 free, finishing in 1:42.17.Â
In the sprint,
Sammy Odtallah clocked in at 21.32 seconds to finish first among the pack in the 50 free.
Christoff Ras topped the leaderboard in the 200 fly, finishing in 2:10.97.
Freshman
Gustov Swedenborg was the winner of the 500 free, clocking in at 4:43.46.
The men will next compete on February 3 at the Villanova Sprint Fest. The Atlantic 10 Championships begin on February 14.
