RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman
Camaren Cox had a career performance Sunday, however the La Salle University women's soccer team (8-8-1, 3-7 A-10) fell to VCU (14-3, 9-1 A-10), 4-2, on the road.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Rams struck first during the 29th minute to take the lead.
- Shortly after, Cox scored on a header after passes from senior Chloe Lewis and junior Jess Shanahan.
- Five minutes later, VCU responded to regain the lead, 2-1, into the half.
- The second half started with two VCU goals to increase the Rams lead, 4-1.
- Attempting a comeback, Cox found the back of the net again on a feed from redshirt-senior Madison Bower.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Cox's two goals and four points are both career highs for the Atlantic Highlands, N.J. native. She becomes the third double-digit point scorer for the Explorers this season.
- Bower ends the season as the team's leading point scorer with 22.
- Shanahan ends the 2018 campaign atop the team's leaderboard in assists with seven.
- In net, sophomore keeper Claudia Jenkins made four saves, allowing four goals.
