Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight as Corah Ties Season High in Kills

PHILADELPHIA – Behind the nearly flawless attack of junior Devin Corah, the La Salle volleyball team (15-9, 7-3 A-10) took down A-10 foe Fordham (9-14, 2-8 A-10), 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-18) on Friday night at Tom Gola Arena.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first set featured five ties before the Explorers took off on a 14-8 run to give themselves a 19-13 lead. Fordham battled back but La Salle clinched the set, 25-21.
  • In the second, the teams traded points for the duration of the set, seeing 18 ties before the Rams ended the frame on a 3-1 run.
  • Much like the second set started, the teams kept things close until late in the third when La Salle capped the set on a 10-3 run.
  • During the fourth and final set, the Explorers ended on a 12-5 run to seal the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Corah's 25 kills tie her season high and mark her fifth consecutive match in double digit kills, including 20 of her 24 matches played this season. For the match, Corah hit an impressive .500.
  • Joining Corah in double digit kills were senior Madison Kuch with 12 and junior Catherine Edgington.
  • Five different Explorers posted double digit dig totals, led by senior Jensen Sharrits with 22.
  • Junior setter Kathryn Wood dished out 51 assists for her second highest outing on the season.
RECORD WATCH:
  • After Friday night's performance, Sharrits is just 32 digs shy of tying the school record with four games left in the regular season.
UP NEXT:
The Explorers are back in action at Tom Gola Arena on Sunday as they take on Rhode Island for a 1 p.m. first serve. Prior to the game, La Salle will honor Sharrits and Kuch for Senior Day.
