GENEVA, Ohio - The La Salle University men's and women's swimming & diving teams trekked to Ohio for the Atlantic 10 Classic over the weekend. Three different student-athletes were victorious in various diving competitions, while freshman
Zachary Wolbert continued an impressive to his collegiate career with three individual wins.
HIGHLIGHTS
- In team competitions, the La Salle men's swimming & diving team concluded the event with a 2-1 record, finishing with wins over Saint Louis and St. Bonaventure.Â
- The women's team squared off against four different teams and had successful showings from a number of individuals.
- Wolbert won the 200 IM, the 400 IM and the 200 Fly, with the victories in the individual medley events coming by almost two full seconds.
- The freshman was also a member of the 400 Free relay team -- with Marcus Forsgren, Norm Gregory and Daniel Johnson -- that bested the field.
- Gregory took home two individual titles, narrowly bettering Forsgren in both the 50 and 100 Free competitions.
- La Salle divers nearly swept the four diving events, as freshman Phoebe Shaya took the 1-meter crown and finished second in the 3-meter.
- On the men's side, freshman Steven Stasolla edged junior Blake Griffith in the 1-meter, with Griffith picking up his second straight win in the 3-meter dive.
- Two more women's swimmers won events - freshman Sara Rizzetto touched over two seconds faster than the field in the 400 IM while senior Olivia DiStefano won the 100 Back.
UP NEXT
- The women's team returns to action on Friday, Nov. 2 against A-10 foe Rhode Island at Kirk Pool.
- Five days later, the men return home on Wednesday, Nov. 7 for a dual meet with Penn.
