Wood Becomes Second Consecutive Explorer to Take A-10 Player of the Week

Wood POTW

Women's Volleyball | November 5, 2018

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second consecutive week, a member of the La Salle University volleyball team has earned Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, as junior Kathryn Wood claimed the honor on Monday.

Wood becomes the second A-10 Player of the Week recipient in program history after fellow junior Devin Corah earned the accolade just last week, the first ever for the team.

Wood was a key component in the Explorers' sweep of Duquesne on Friday, helping La Salle to its sixth straight victory. She dished out 37 assists over the three sets while also recording five digs and three service aces.

The Smithtown, N.Y., product leads the A-10 in assists by a large margin, averaging 11.10 per set. She surpassed 1,000 assists for the season in Friday's victory, accomplishing the feat for the second year in a row, and has 1,032 with two regular season matches and the A-10 tournament still to go.

Wood has already gone over 3,000 assists for her career in only three seasons and has 3,170 to her credit, which ranks third in program history, and she is on pace to move into second on that list by season's end. Additionally, Wood's 11.10 assist average this year currently is the second highest in single season team history, while her career average of 10.00 assists per set also ranks second in school history.
