Men's Swimming and Diving | February 14, 2018
GENEVA, Ohio - The men's swimming and diving teams couldn't have asked for a better way to start in the Atlantic 10 Champions on Wednesday.
Senior diver
Dylan Yurasits broke an Atlantic 10 Conference record in the one meter dive, scoring a 348.45. His score was well ahead of the pack as second place scored nearly 50 points less. Sophomore
Blake Griffith took the bronze, recording a score of 297.40.
Yurasits' record was just the beginning of a great day for the team as the men's swimming team would finish with three more school records.
"We had a great first night," said head coach
Jamie Platt. The energy, excitement and performances were excellent. Dylan and Blake started us off in the afternoon on the boards and we never stopped. Rewriting records at La Salle and the A-10. What a way to start!"
The 200 medley relay team and 800 freestyle relay team all set new school records for the second year in a row. The individual 200 freestyle record was also broken for the second consecutive year.
The 200 medley team of
Fabian Bergman,
Marcus Forsgren,
Jakub Bartosiewicz, and
Norm Gregory clocked in at 1:28.24, beating last year's record of 1:29.41, and finishing second in the race.
The 800 free relay team did the same. Bergman,
Aleksandar Nikolic,
Kyle McElwee, and Forsgren took second in 6:33.41. The previous record was 6:36.57. Leading off the relay, Bergman broke the school record in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:37.69. This beat teammate Nikolic's school record of 1:38.87 set a year ago.
