ERIE, Pa. - The women's water polo team was defeated twice in the team's season opening double header at the Laker Invitational in Erie.

Gannon 14, La Salle 8
Jenny Fermaintt had 11 saves in net to set the tone on defense. Also on defense, Katelynn Kubo had five steals to go along with three sprint wins and an ejection drawn. Karle Linden had two goals and six steals. The offense was led by Stephanie Morales who scored three goals and drew two ejections. Kacie Cios and Jillian Delisle had one goal each.

VMI 16, La Salle 8
 Fermaintt had five saves in net and a steal. Scoring was mostly spread out as Morales, Delisle, and Linden had two goals each. Kubo and Cios found the back of the net once. Madison Martinez recorded an assist, a block, and a drawn ejection.


The women's team finishes up the Laker invite on Sunday, first playing against host Mercyhurst at 9:15 AM and then Saint Francis (PA) at 2:15 PM.
