Nationally-Ranked Rhode Island Invades Gola Arena for Matchup With Explorers on Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's basketball team will host a nationally-ranked opponent at Gola Arena for the first time this season as No. 16 Rhode Island visits on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network, with Tom McCarthy and Alaa Abdelnaby calling the action beginning at 7:00 p.m.

All fans are encouraged to wear GOLD to the game, and each attendee will receive a free retractable sign upon entrance. Tomorrow night's game is also our "Health & Wellness Night," sponsored by Holy Redeemer Health System. Holy Redeemer and Pearle Vision will be providing health screenings and healthy living tips in the mezzanine before and throughout the game with help from La Salle School of Nursing students.

NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers are coming off a thrilling 69-62 win over George Mason on Saturday afternoon at Gola Arena.
•Trailing by as many as 16 points in the opening half and by 13 entering the second, La Salle stormed back to earn the win thanks to a supreme defensive effort.
•George Mason was held to 20.7 percent (6-29) from the field after intermission, including 1-for-9 (11.1%) from three-point range.
•Redshirt senior Tony Washington put together a career performance, setting new personal marks for points (20) and rebounds (14) in the victory.
•Washington finished 9-of-11 from the field and is tops in the Atlantic 10 in field-goal percentage against league competition (.687).
•La Salle improved its home record at Gola Arena to 9-3 on the year, including a 5-2 mark in A-10 play.
•Redshirt senior B.J. Johnson nearly had his seventh double-double of the year with 18 points and nine rebounds, with 12 of those points coming after halftime. 
•Johnson, who registered the 1,000th point of his collegiate career earlier in February, is just 41 points shy of reaching the plateau in his La Salle career.

SCOUTING THE RAMS
•Rhode Island entered Friday's game against St. Bonaventure with a 16-game winning streak, but dropped a close one in Olean, 77-74.
•Overall, the Rams stand at 21-4 and 13-1 in the Atlantic 10, and were ranked No 14 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 16 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll (Feb. 12).
•Jared Terrell has been the top offensive threat for URI all year, averaging 17.7 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting.
•Terrell is shooting 43.0 percent from three-point range (5th in A-10) and 47.3 percent beyond the arc during league play (3rd in A-10).
•Sophomore guard Jeff Dowtin has dished out 141 assists in 2017-18 to rank second in the A-10 in the category. He leads the league and ranks third in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.4).
•As a team, the Rams rank second in the Atlantic 10 in both scoring offense (77.2 ppg) and scoring defense (66.8 ppg), equating to a league-best +10.4 average scoring margin.
