Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Delaware Holds off Women's Lacrosse, 16-13

NEWARK, Del. - The women's lacrosse team (0-2) came up short against Delaware (1-1) on the road Wednesday evening, 16-14. The Explorers finished the game strong, as their did in their first game as well, and outscored the Blue Hens 7-6 in the second half.

Brittany Edwards and Bridget Ruskey led the offense with three goals apiece. Ruskey, a freshman, was recently named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. Edwards also tacked on an assist in the game. Rachel Ceplo scored two to go along with two assists. Five others scored one goal each, including Maddie Dachowski who also had two helpers.

The Explorer offense gained steam throughout the game and scored the final four goals of the contest. La Salle is outscoring its opponents 6-0 in the last eight minutes of regulation this season.

Molly Loughlin drew the start in net and made two saves. Lynne Frankel came in in relief and blocked six shots away.

As a team, La Salle scooped up 13 groundballs compared to Delaware's 10. The Blue and Gold also turned over the ball just ten times and caused 18 turnovers. 

The Explorers return home for a three-game home swing starting on Sunday with Central Michigan at noon.
