Trip to Saint Louis Up Next for Men's Basketball on Saturday

ST. LOUIS - The La Salle University men's basketball team visits Saint Louis for an Atlantic 10 matchup on Saturday evening, closing out its two-game road trip. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET, with the contest scheduled to be televised on Fox Sports Midwest (check local listings). An online audio broadcast will be available over the internet, with Kale Beers calling the action.

NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games, with the most recent contest resulting in an 80-69 defeat at George Washington on Wednesday.
•Sophomore Saul Phiri and freshman Miles Brookins each set new career highs with 16 and 11 points, respectively.
•Redshirt junior Pookie Powell also had 16 points while senior B.J. Johnson registered 14 points and added a team-high eight rebounds.
•Johnson leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 21.0 points per game.
•The last La Salle player to pace the league in scoring for a season was Steven Smith (20.3 ppg) during the 2003-04 season.
•The Explorers committed 17 turnovers against the Colonials and went just 2-for-13 from three-point range in the second half.
•Phiri connected on five three-pointers, which sets a new career mark for the 6-4 guard in that category.
•Graduate student Amar Stukes did not score against the Colonials but did register four assists to move within eight of all-time great Lionel Simmons for 15th on the La Salle career assists list (355).
•Stukes is also on the verge of cracking the career top 15 in games played (118).

SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
•Saint Louis had won three straight games prior to falling to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday night.
•Javon Bess had 13 points and 16 rebounds against the Bonnies and leads the team at 13.2 points per game.
•Overall, the Billikens have won five of their last seven and are 6-6 in Atlantic 10 play to stand in a tie for fifth.
•Senior Davell Roby and freshman Jordan Goodwin are second and third on the squad in scoring at 11.0 and 10.9 points per game, respectively.
•Saint Louis has had just six players start a game this season, with three -- Bess, Roby and Goodwin, starting all 25 games.
•The Billikens own a 10-5 record at Chaifetz Arena this season, including a 4-2 mark against A-10 competition.
