HAMPTON, Va. – The La Salle softball team (3-11) couldn't get their offense going in a 2-0 loss to Hampton (9-12) on Sunday at the Lady Pirate Softball Complex.
The Pirates scored a run in the 1
st on a passed ball and added another on a Lorena Alvarez double in the 2
nd to provide the game's only scoring.
Marlo Roadcap (L, 1-6) was charged with one earned run in six innings of work, allowing just five hits and two walks while striking out four.
La Salle had the tying runs aboard in the top of the 7
th with no outs but Hampton's Allyson Babinsack was able to wiggle out of the jam without any damage. The righty allowed just three hits while striking out six.
The Explorers are back in action next weekend at the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational. La Salle opens with Sacred Heart on Friday and will play UMBC and Saint Peter's twice each.
