PHILADELPHIA - The women's varsity eight boat and a pair of varsity fours began the spring season for the La Salle women's rowing team on Saturday. The competition saw two other local schools -- Villanova and Drexel -- hit the water in the varsity eight race.
The Dragons came out with the victory, with the Wildcats taking second place. For the Explorers, who crossed in 8:35.3, freshman
Natalie Fabi served as the coxswain while junior
Jessica Lindsay sat in the stroke seat.
Rounding out the crew were sophomore Dowd, junior
Danielle Deley, freshman
Anna Green, sophomore
Tara Cates, senior
Jackie Gonzalez, freshman
Paula Villegas, and sophomore
Samantha Donahue.
A pair of four boats squared off against each other in the other race of the day for the Explorers. Fabi, Lindsay, Donahue, Villegas, and Green comprised one boat, while Dowd, Deley, Cates and Gonzalez were joined by freshman coxswain
Claire Scobee.
La Salle continues the spring season on March 30-31 with a dual match with Iona and the Murphy Cup.
