NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The women's water polo team was defeated twice on Saturday in a doubleheader that kicked off its MAAC weekend.

First, the Explorers were defeated by crosstown Villanova, 12-5. Jillian Delisle and Stephanie Morales each had two goals while Raquel Jimenez scored once. Katelynn Kubo and Morales recorded four steals on defense. Delisle drew three kickouts.

The Explorers dropped a tight game against Siena to finish the day, 11-10. Karle Linden had three goals to lead the offense. Delisle added two while five others had one apiece. Delisle also had five assists. Madison Martinez stepped up on defense and had four steals. Linden forced four kickouts. In goal, Jenny Fermaintt had five stops while Giselle Monsalve had four.

La Salle returns to action on Sunday to take on St. Francis Brooklyn at noon and then Iona at 4:30.
