Women's Lacrosse Falters Against Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The women's lacrosse team (4-5, 0-1 A-10) was stopped by the Davidson Wildcats (6-3, 1-0 A-10), 14-10, on Thursday. The game marked the Explorers' first Atlantic 10 Conference game of the season.

Both teams played tough defense, especially out of the shoot. No goals were scored for the first 11:54 of regulation. Finally, the Wildcats' leading scorer Jillian Wood found the back of the net and the Explorers never climbed back despite a valiant effort.

Freshman Bridget Ruskey scored La Salle's only goal of the first half. The Blue and Goal trailed 5-1 heading into the break. Ruskey scored twice more in the second frame. The impressive newcomer has scored three or more goals in seven out of nine games this season.

La Salle found a rhythm in the second half and out-scored the Wildcats 7-3 in the final 14:06.

Mikki Raymond scored three times. She also had an assist. Raymond, a midfielder, has been on fire lately. The redshirt sophomore has seven goals and seven assists in her last three games.

Emily Johnston also scored twice and had two assists on the final goals of the game. One of which was by Maddie Dachowski, the other was to Shannon Deluray. Johnston, who had a team-high nine shots, had a strong game filling the stat sheet not only offensively but also with five draw controls, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

Lynne Frankel and Molly Loughlin split time in net. Frankel had seven saves while Loughlin had three.

La Salle will return home on Saturday to face George Mason at 4:30 PM at McCarthy Stadium.
