BOSTON, Mass. – Three members of the La Salle University track and field team advanced to the final day of the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships after preliminary action on Saturday. All three qualifiers for La Salle were from the men's team.
Graduate student
Chris Sanders and sophomore
Anthony Hawthorne both qualified for the finals in the 800-meter run. Sanders placed second in his preliminary heat with a time of 1:50.90, while Hawthorne was right behind with a qualifying time of 1:50.96, also finishing second in his preliminary race.
Senior
Justin Guerre advanced in the 60-meter dash as well. He ran the eighth fastest time in the preliminary heats at 6.92 and then qualified for the finals with a 6.87 second time in the semifinals.
Guerre also was 15th in the 200-meter preliminaries with a mark of 21.86, while freshmen
Ethan Cook and
Chase Campbell clocked in at 22.32 and 22.35 in the event, respectively.
On the women's side, senior
Ifetayo Tyler was the lone Explorer to compete on Saturday. Tyler competed in the 800-meter run, finishing 20th with a time of 2:11.96 in her preliminary heat.
The final day of the IC4A/ECAC Championships will take place on Sunday.
