PHILADELPHIA – For the second consecutive game and third time in ten days, the La Salle University baseball team overcame a multi-run deficit, coming back to defeat Atlantic 10 Conference foe Fordham, 6-5, on Friday from Hank DeVincent Field. Senior
Chase Arnold led the charge down the stretch, driving in three runs, including a home run.
Down by four, the Explorers scored five unanswered run – three in the seventh and two more in the eighth – to claim the series opener at home.
Fordham took a 3-0 lead in the third inning on a three-run homer by Jake MacKenzie. La Salle came within two in the fourth, as senior

Tommy Toal on a popup that the Rams lost in the sun.
MacKenzie registered his second four-bagger of the day in the fifth inning, this time on an inside-the-park home run, putting Fordham up 5-1.
Arnold gave the Explorers some much-needed momentum in the seventh by hitting his fourth homer of the season, driving in junior
Ben Faso to pull La Salle back within a pair. Later in the inning, the Explorers loaded the bases and made it a 5-4 game when junior
Brett Simon was hit by pitch, allowing freshman
Manny Garcia to score.
After senior
Brian Dudeck led off the bottom of the eighth with a triple, Arnold came through in the clutch again, driving home Dudeck on an RBI double to left center for the tying run. Senior
Yan Carlo Rivera pinch ran for Arnold and showed off his speed two batters later as he scored on an infield single by Toal, giving the Explorers a 6-5 lead.
Sophomore
Sebastian Martinez (3-0) earned his third consecutive win on the mound. Martinez, junior

Matt Patricio held Fordham scoreless over 4.1 innings in relief. Sophomore
Jackson Ray started and struck out a pair over 4.2 innings of work.
Arnold finished the day 3-for-5, while Constantini was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
With the win, La Salle improved to 10-21 on the season and 2-5 in the A-10, already matching its 2017 win total with 22 regular season games remaining. Meanwhile, Fordham dropped to 19-11-1 overall and 4-3 in league play.
The two teams will conclude their series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
