Conaway Sets Single-Season Doubles Record, Explorers Drop DH to Saint Louis

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (12-30, 3-15 A-10) came up short in both games of a doubleheader to the Saint Louis Billikens (24-25, 9-8 A-10) on Saturday afternoon at West Campus Field. Sophomore Emily Conaway doubled in the 1st inning of game two to set the new single-season doubles record at La Salle at 14.

Game 1: Saint Louis 6, La Salle 4
Emma Schweigert homered out of the leadoff spot to give La Salle a 1-0 lead before Saint Louis scored four runs in the middle innings and added two insurance runs in the top of the 7th

Alyssa Chavez hit a three-run homer for SLU in the 4th and Allie Macfarlane singled in a run in the 5th. Marissa Ewald cut La Salle's deficit to one with a two-run homer in the 6th before SLU got two runs back in the 7th

Schweigert doubled and scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the 7th but the Explorers weren't able to close the gap.

Game 2: Saint Louis 2, La Salle 0
Conaway's 1st-inning double moved her past Amanda Clark, who had 13 doubles in 2001.

Marlo Roadcap (L, 3-14) held Saint Louis to just two runs in her ninth complete-game of the season but the Explorers couldn't get their offense going against Kallen Loveless (W, 4-5).

Roadcap limited the Billikens to six hits but SLU capitalized on four walks. Macfarlane walked with the bases loaded in the 3rd to force in a run and Lauren Lomax scored on a wild pitch in the 5th after leading off the inning with a free pass.

The Explorers had a runner in scoring position in three different innings but Loveless was able to work out of trouble, yielding just five hits and no walks.
