PHILADELPHIA - The women's lacrosse team fell, 21-7, on Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium against crosstown rival Saint Joseph's (11-6, 7-2 Atlantic 10). The game marked the last of the season for the Explorers (7-10, 3-6 A-10).
The Explorers led as late as seven minutes into the first half when
Annina Iacobucci and
Rachel Ceplo scored goals to start the game. The Hawks quickly went on a scoring frenzy and couldn't be stopped. Even on defense, their goaltending was tough to get past.
Senior
Brittany Edwards finished up her La Salle career with a three-goal performance including the last goal of the game. She also had an assist.
Courtney Shoults caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
Bridget Ruskey and
Emily Johnston each scored two goals. Johnston's score came off of a turnover when she stepped in front of a St. Joe's player to pick off and pass and take the ball directly to the back of the net.
Lynne Frankel had seven saves and split time with
Molly Loughlin who had two saves.
