PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior
Ben Faso extended his hit streak to 14 consecutive games, but the La Salle University baseball team fell on the road to Rutgers on Friday, 11-1.
Faso accomplished the feat in his very first at-bat with a single to center field, moving into a tie for the seventh longest hit streak in program history. He finished the game 2-for-4, his third straight multi-hit game and 13th of the season.
Rutgers got to La Salle starter
Michael Jenkins for five runs on seven hits over the first two innings to take control early on. The Scarlet Knights added three more runs in the fifth inning and then took a 10-0 lead in the sixth on a two-run home run by Nick Matera.
Faso provided the lone run for La Salle in the eighth, driving in senior
Austin Constantini on an RBI single to left field, making it 10-1.
The Scarlet Knights scored on a wild pitch in the eighth to cap off the 11-1 decision.

Jack Cucinotta went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Junior

Tommy Toal accounted for the other two hits for the Explorers.
La Salle (7-20) and Rutgers (16-10) will play again on Saturday at 1 p.m.
