Explorers Downed by Spiders in Final A-10 Road Game

RICHMOND, Va. – The La Salle University baseball team fell to the Richmond Spiders, 6-1, in its final Atlantic 10 Conference road game of the season on Mother's Day Sunday.

Senior Brian Dudeck went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored La Salle's lone run, while classmate Austin Constantini was 2-for-4 with a double. Constantini also threw one inning of relief, retiring all three batters that he faced, including two strikeouts.

Richmond consistently scored a run in the second, third and fourth innings to muster a 3-0 lead.

The Explorers made it a 3-1 contest in the fifth inning when Dudeck stole third and forced a throwing error that allowed him to score the team's first and only run.

The Spiders added a run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the seventh to seal the deal. Robbie Baker (8-1) pitched a complete game for Richmond with ten strikeouts.

Redshirt freshman Matt Patricio made his second start of the season on the hill and scattered four runs on five hits while striking out two over 4.2 innings. Junior Connor Hinchliffe had three strikeouts over 2.1 innings of relief.

La Salle will conclude its road schedule on Tuesday, when the Explorers visit Delaware for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
