PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University baseball team will close out its 2018 season this weekend at home, as the Explorers host Atlantic 10 foe George Mason for a three-game series starting Thursday. The series is scheduled to culminate with Senior Day on Saturday.

FASO NABS SECOND BIG 5 HONOR
For the second time this season, junior
Ben Faso was named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week. Faso hit .385 with three doubles, two RBIs and a run scored to go with a .615 slugging percentage over three games last week. On Friday at Richmond, he went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run. With the trio of two-baggers, Faso moved into ninth place on the program's single season doubles list with 16 on the year.
STAT STUFFERS
Faso's 16 doubles put him tied for second in the A-10, while he sits fourth in the conference in hits with 69 over 51 games. Junior
Peyton Sorrels is tied for fourth in triples with fourth, followed by Dudeck in a tied for sixth with three. As a team, the Explorers are fourth in the league with 460 hits, averaging 8.9 per contest. La Salle also ranks fourth in doubles with 88, while the pitching staff is fifth in strikeouts with 385 (7.6 per game). Faso leads the team in batting average at .330, and Constantini follows with a .302 average, both of which are among the league's top 20.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
George Mason will be playing for a spot in the Atlantic 10 tournament, currently sitting in fifth with a 13-8 conference mark. The Patriots (23-25) have won four of their last five games, winning series against George Washington and Saint Joseph's during that stretch. For the year, they own a 7-12 away record. Logan Driscoll leads the team with a .366 average, while Tyler Nelin is batting .336. Trevor Kelly adds the power with six home runs and 42 RBIs, and Driscoll has four homers and 37 RBIs as well. On the mound, Game one starter Zach Mort (5-3) owns a 2.33 ERA with a team-high 97 strikeouts. Bryce Nightengale (4-6, 3.79 ERA) and Jared DiCesare (5-5, 3.57 ERA) are expected to pitch games two and three.
