Baseball Concludes 2018 Season with Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University baseball team capped off its 2018 season with a 15-4 defeat to George Mason in Atlantic 10 action on Senior Day from Hank DeVincent Field Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Austin Constantini, Yan Carlo Rivera, Chase Arnold, Brian Dudeck, Greg Paprocki and Rafael Amanau were honored prior to the contest. Constantini, Arnold and Rivera each had a hit in the game.

George Mason took command early on, scoring seven runs in the second inning, four of which were unearned. The Patriots then added three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to take a 14-0 lead.

La Salle got on the board in the fourth inning when sophomore Ryan Guckin doubled to right field, scoring junior Ben Faso. Then in the sixth, Constantini hit a leadoff triple and came in to score on an RBI groundout by freshman Tommy Toal to make it 14-2.

After the Patriots added a run in the top of the seventh, the Explorers scored twice in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 15-4. Arnold ripped a single through the right side after junior Kevin McGowan walked to put two on for Rivera, who laced a single up the middle, driving in McGowan and pinch runner Manny Garcia.

Faso went 1-for-1 on the day, finishing the season with 75 hits, which leaves him tied for fifth on the program's single season hits list.

Redshirt freshman Matt Patricio started on the mound and drew the loss. Freshmen Colin Scanlon and Alexarmando Diaz combined for two scoreless, hitless innings of relief with three strikeouts over the final two innings.

In head coach David Miller's first year at the helm, the young Explorers finish the season 14-41 overall and 4-20 in the A-10, earning four more total wins than last season.
