Anthony Hawthorne will represent the La Salle University men's track team at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Championships in the 800-meter run this week at the USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

WHAT TO WATCH
Hawthorne will be taking part in the first round of the 800-meter competition, which will take place on Thursday starting at 4:10 p.m. He will be racing in the very first heat (out of six) and will be in lane one. The top three finishers in each of the six heats and the six runners with the next fastest times will advance to Friday's quarterfinal. The 24-man quarterfinal is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The top three finishers of the three quarterfinal heats and the three individuals with the next fastest times will move on to the semifinals of the National Championships, which will be June 6-9 in Eugene, Ore.
HOW HE GOT HERE
In his final competition of the season, Hawthorne punched his ticket to Tampa with a win at the West Point Twilight Meet on May 10. He won the 800-meter event with a personal best time of 1:47.77, a regional qualifier. Hawthorne's time was the tenth fastest in the East region and 18th fastest in the nation.
