ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced the MAC Hall of Fame Class of 2018. The class of 16 individuals from current and former member institutions includes former La Salle University men's basketball standout Larry Cannon, who played for the Explorers from 1966-69.

"For seven years we have selected outstanding alumni from our 60 current and former institutions for the MAC Hallof Fame. This year's inductees are as impressive as the 148 previous inductees," said Andrews. "The 2018 class continues to represent the great legacy of this conference. The athletics, service and professional prowess they display exemplifies the best in college athletics. On behalf of our 17 members, I congratulate these inductees as they receive MAC recognition from their alma mater."

During his three seasons with the Explorers, Cannon averaged 18.9 point per game and accumulated 1,430 career points. In 1969, he was named Second Team All-America. During the 1967-68 season, La Salle won the MAC's University Division title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. A versatile guard/forward, he was a member of the 1968-69 La Salle men's basketball team that went 23-1 and finished the year ranked second nationally. Cannon led that squad with 140 assists and was second in rebounds with 147.

Cannon went on to be the fifth overall pick in the 1969 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft, selected by the Chicago Bulls. He was also selected by the Miami Floridians in the 1969 American Basketball Association (ABA) Draft. He would play one season in the NBA and four seasons in the ABA. He led Denver (ABA) with 26.6 points per game during the 1970-71 season and was honored with an All-ABA Second Team selection. He was also a member of the 1972 ABA Champion Indiana Pacers.

Cannon is a member of the Big 5 Hall of Fame and was inducted into the La Salle Hall of Athletes in 1977. His jersey No. 20 was retired at La Salle in a ceremony at The Palestra in December of 2016.
