PHILADELPHIA – Recent La Salle University graduate
Fabian Bergman, a standout on the men's swimming and diving team, was recognized by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors on Wednesday.
The award recognizes qualifying student-athletes that achieved a GPA of 3.50 or higher. Bergman's honor comes just eight days after his team also earned Scholar All-America accolades from the CSCAA.
It is the second consecutive CSCAA Scholar All-America laurel for Bergman after collecting honorable mention status a year ago as well. A three-time Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honoree, Bergman had a 3.76 GPA and graduated from La Salle with a degree in Integrated Business, Science and Technology. The four-year Dean's List recipient was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team and was selected as Scholar Athlete of the Year by the La Salle Athletic Department. In May, Bergman was chosen as La Salle's recipient of the A-10 Postgraduate Scholarship.
Bergman was exceptional in the pool during his four seasons with the Explorers. He set multiple school records during his time at La Salle in the 100 & 200 backstroke, 100 & 200 freestyle, 200, 400, 800 freestyle relay, and the 200 and 400 medley relay. On top of that, Bergman not only set a school record in the 200 IM, but he also broke the conference mark in the event with his gold medal performance at the A-10 Championships this past year.
