BALTIMORE, Md. – The La Salle University volleyball team (6-4) swept the Loyola Greyhounds, 3-0, in their first match in Baltimore on Thursday evening. The Explorers added the match earlier in the week after Hurricane Florence prevented Loyola from traveling to North Carolina for the Campbell University tournament this weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Devin Corah, who was named La Salle Invitational MVP last weekend, put down the first kill of game one to give the Explorers an immediate lead.
- The teams were neck and neck for the first portion of play, landing at a 13-13 tie after a kill from sophomore Samantha Graver.
- The Explorers earned five straight points to surge ahead to 18-13 before Loyola called a timeout.
- The Greyhounds could not come back from the deficit, losing the first set to the Explorers, 25-19.
- Game two mimicked the first with alternating points ending in a 22-22 lock. La Salle again took the game, 25-22, and went in front 2-0.
- Set three presented the toughest challenge of the night for the Explorers. The teams were stuck at 25-25 before the Greyhounds committed a service error and an attack error to give the Explorers the final two points for a 27-25 win.
