Field Hockey Downed by Georgetown, 3-2

PHILADELPHIA -- The La Salle University field hockey team (3-4) saw a late rally fall short as they dropped a 3-2 decision to Georgetown (6-1) on Sunday afternoon at Hank DeVincent field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  •  A penalty corner from senior Logan Oh to classmate Megan Kida gave sophomore Amber Blackshear a scoring opportunity for the Explorers to take the lead 1-0 in the first half.
  • Georgetown took possession and registered a goal off of a foul to tie up the game 1-1 four minutes before halftime.
  • The second half saw the Hoyas pull ahead with a goal in the first two minutes of play to put the score at 2-1.
  • La Salle followed up with four straight opportunities, three of them by Blackshear, as they looked to come back.
  • Georgetown found the back of the cage at the 45:14 mark for another tally to put the margin at two.
  • Oh responded, scoring with just under five minutes left on the clock to trim the margin to 3-2.
  • Despite several promising attacks, La Salle could not convert on an equalizing attempt prior to the final buzzer.
