Kida's Two Goals Lead Field Hockey to 3-0 Victory Over Central Michigan

PHILADELPHIA - Senior co-captain Megan Kida scored a pair of goals as the La Salle University field hockey team earned its second straight shutout to start the season, a 3-0 defeat of Central Michigan on Sunday morning at Hank DeVincent Field. The Explorers controlled the contest throughout, outshooting the Chippewas by a 14-3 margin.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CMU had the first opportunity of the match off a corner in the fifth minute. Kayla McClure had a shot on goal denied by reigning Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week Emma Provost.
  • Not soon after, La Salle jumped on top off a corner of its own. Senior Logan Oh inserted the corner and, after a redirect by sophomore Rialee Allen, Kida converted on the doorstep to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead.
  • In the 22nd minute, Kida once again found the back of the cage as freshman Shannon O'Reilly slid her a pass on the left side. Kida took aim from 10 yards out and finished to put the score at 2-0.
  • The score remained the same until the latter portion of the second half, when Allen scored herself to bump La Salle in front by three.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • In addition to a decided advantage in shots, the Explorers had 12 penalty corners compared to just two for Central Michigan.
  • Provost had a pair of saves, one in each half, to register her second straight clean sheet.
  • Oh totaled a team-high five shots, including four on cage, while junior Lauren Lechleitner added three attempts.
  • Lily Amadio had seven saves for Central Michigan in the loss.
