PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University volleyball team (8-7, 1-1 A-10) earned a 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-18) road sweep of Davidson (7-5, 1-1 A-10) in Atlantic 10 action on Sunday afternoon. The match marks first 3-0 win by the Explorers over a conference opponent since Oct. 25, 2005, when they won 3-0 over George Washington.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Explorers started off strong, taking a commanding 10-4 lead.
- La Salle maintained its lead for the remainder of the game, and a kill from junior Devin Corah secured the win for the Explorers, 25-18.
- The Davidson offense presented a greater challenge in the second set with a five-point run allowing the Wildcats to briefly take a lead over the Explorers.
- Junior Jennifer Edwards put down a service ace to clinch game two in La Salle's favor, 27-25, and position the Explorers in a commanding 2-0 lead.
- La Salle recorded 13 kills in the third set to take the game 25-18, resulting in a 3-0 victory over Davidson.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- La Salle outnumbered Davidson in kills (44-40), aces (5-2), blocks (5-1), and assists (40-34).
- Senior Jensen Sharrits had 23 digs and remains at the top of the Atlantic 10 conference in boths digs/set (5.72) and total digs (309).
- Junior Kathryn Wood had 32 assists and continues to hold the first rank in the A-10 in assists/set (11.30).
- Junior Catherine Edgington registered 11 kills on an impressive .550 hitting percentage and also added three blocks.
