PHILADELPHIA – After hitting the road for the last four games, the La Salle University men's soccer team will finally return home to host VCU in its Atlantic 10 Conference opener on Saturday from McCarthy Stadium. The game, which will begin at 7 p.m., will be available on ESPN+ ($), and students in attendance can enjoy free food as part of the Fall Tailgate Series.
LAST TIME OUT
- La Salle led early before falling, 2-1, at LIU Brooklyn this past Saturday.
- Freshman Omari Cotterell found senior Hayden Criollo on a break for the first goal of the game in the 21st minute.
- LIU Brooklyn evened the score in the 35th minute and then took a 2-1 advantage in the 66th minute.
- Senior goalkeeper Cameron Keys matched his season high with four saves in net.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
- VCU enters the matchup with a 4-4 overall record and has only played on the road once, falling at No. 4 Indiana earlier this month.
- The Rams shut out No. 20 Old Dominion on Sept. 19, 4-0, but dropped a 4-3 decision to Akron in overtime on Wednesday.
- VCU has posted four shutouts this season, with Mario Sequeira (1.71 GAA, .647 Sv%) doing the heavy lifting in goal.
- Jared Greene leads the Rams with nine points on four goals and one assist. Siad Haji has two goals and three assists, while Joseph Gonnella has tallied a pair of goals as well.
ATLANTIC 10 PROGNOSTICATIONS
- La Salle was picked 10th in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll by the league's head coaches last month, while VCU was projected to finish second and had four first-place votes.
