PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University women's soccer team (6-4-1, 1-3-0 A-10) fell to visiting Massachusetts (8-2, 4-0 A-10), 3-1, Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Minutewomen jumped out to a 2-0 lead, before the Explorers responded with a goal by freshman Camaren Cox. Junior Jess Shanahan sent a ball from just outside the left side of the box for Cox to nail the one timer home.
- UMass answered in the second half with its third goal on the afternoon.
- Late in the second, La Salle had an opportunity to inch closer on a penalty kick, however the UMass keeper held, saving the PK.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- In net, sophomore keeper Claudia Jenkins made seven saves, allowing the three goals.
- Cox's goal marked the third of her freshman campaign, while Shanahan's assist was her fourth.

The Explorers return to McCarthy Stadium on Thursday, October 4 when they host St. Bonaventure. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN .
