BRONX, N.Y. – The La Salle University volleyball team won its third straight Atlantic 10 contest and completed a perfect road weekend as it defeated Fordham, 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 25-16, 25-20) on Sunday afternoon. The victory over the Rams improved the Explorers to 10-7 overall and to 3-1 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- La Salle gained an early advantage over the Rams, leading 17-12 in the first set.
- Fordham went on a five-point streak to tie up the game 17-17, threatening the Explorers' lead.
- Senior Madison Kuch put down back-to-back kills helping La Salle make a quick comeback to clinch game one, 25-22.
- Displaying another strong performance in the second set, Kuch registered five kills that helped the visitors to a 25-18 victory.
- Despite Fordham retaliating with a 25-16 victory in game three, La Salle maintained the lead in the match, 2-1, heading to the fourth.
- Game four saw the Explorers earn their third straight Atlantic 10 triumph, with a final score of 25-20.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Junior Kathryn Wood had 46 assists while senior Jensen Sharrits tallied 28 digs, both of which were match highs.
- Both Wood and Sharrits retain their first-place ranks in the Atlantic 10 conference. Wood leads the league in assists/set (11.21) and Sharrits tops the conference in digs/set (5.74) and digs (350).
- Junior Devin Corah paced the Explorers offensively with 15 kills. Corah holds third place in the A-10 in kills/set (3.80) and kills (232).

- The Explorers will host a pair of conference matches at Tom Gola Arena next weekend. La Salle will first face Saint Louis (2-14, 1-3 A-10) on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. and will then tangle with Dayton (12-5, 3-1 A-10) on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
