PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team will look to remain unbeaten as it welcomes the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers to McCarthy Stadium for a 7 p.m. home matchup on Wednesday. La Salle is off to its second 2-0 start in the three seasons with head coach
Rob Irvine at the helm.
NATIONAL ATTENTION
- The Explorers were ranked 14th in this week's TopDrawerSoccer Men's DI Top 25 poll.
- La Salle is also receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I National Poll.
LAST TIME OUT
- Junior Pat McCarthy and sophomore Soji Olatoye guided the Explorers to a 2-1 road win at Iona on Saturday.
- McCarthy scored the opening goal just 6:09 into action on an assist from Olatoye to give La Salle the early advantage.
- Olatoye then netted the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute, with McCarthy and freshman Ike Hollinger picking up assists on the play.
- Iona got on the board in the 86th minute and took three shots over the final two minutes, but senior goalkeeper Cameron Keys made two key saves to preserve the win.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
- St. Francis Brooklyn has lost three consecutive matches and owns a 1-3-0 overall record.
- The Terriers most recently fell to Cornell at home, 4-2.
- The team's lone win came on the road at Lafayette in the season opener on Aug. 24.
- Amir Islami, Marco Torriani and Rahmi Shawki each have one goal apiece, with Islami netting the game-winner against Lafayette.
- Nicolas Casado has played every minute in goal for the Terriers and has a 2.00 goals against average, a .600 save percentage and one shutout to his credit.
