PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team will aim to bounce back on Saturday, as the Explorers host the Rider Broncs at 7 p.m. from McCarthy Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
- La Salle (2-1-0) suffered its first defeat of the season, 2-0, to the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers at home Wednesday evening.
- The Terriers scored on a penalty kick in the 10th minute and added another goal in the 35th minute to take a 2-0 lead in the first half.
- The Explorers outshot the Terriers 9-1 in the second half and 11-5 for the game, but could not capitalize on their chances.
- Sophomore Soji Olatoye took three shots, while junior Pat McCarthy and freshmen Daniel McIntosh and Charlie Collins each had a shot on goal.
SCOUTING THE BRONCS
- Rider enters the weekend with an overall record of 0-2-1, playing all three games at home thus far.
- The Broncs fell to Temple, 1-0, in overtime on Wednesday.
- Elliott Otmani has the only goal of the season for the Broncs, converting a penalty kick in a 1-1 draw against Fairleigh Dickinson on Aug. 24.
- Garret Potter has been strong in goal for Rider, posting a 0.92 goals against average and a .625 save percentage.
NATIONAL ATTENTION
- The Explorers were ranked 14th in this week's TopDrawerSoccer Men's DI Top 25 poll.
- La Salle is also receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I National Poll.
