PHILADELPHIA - Caitlin Schweihofer, who directed the La Salle University volleyball team to its first-ever trip to the Atlantic 10 Tournament this past fall, has accepted the head coaching position at Northeastern University, it was announced on Thursday.
"Caitlin did a great job turning around our volleyball program and it is with mixed emotions that she departs La Salle," Director of Athletics
Bill Bradshaw said. "We greatly appreciate her contribution to the University, and wish nothing but success for her and her family."
Schweihofer, the 2018 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, guided the Explorers to a No. 3 seed in the A-10 Tournament and led the squad to a 3-1 win over Duquesne to advance to the semifinal round. The team concluded the regular season at 18-12 overall, the most wins for the program since the 1998 season.
Five different student-athletes picked up postseason accolades, including junior Katie Wood who was named A-10 Setter of the Year. Junior
Devin Corah joined Wood on the All-Atlantic 10 First Team, while senior Jensen Sharritts earned a spot on the second team. Freshman
Elizabeth Osborn garnered A-10 All-Rookie Team honors, with Sharritts and senior
Madison Kuch picking up spots on the All-Academic Team.
A search for a head volleyball coach will begin immediately.
