RICHMOND, Va. - The La Salle University field hockey team suffered its third straight loss on Sunday, a 5-0 defeat at the hands of VCU in Atlantic 10 action. The loss drops the Explorers back to 3-3 in league play and improves the Rams to 4-3 in A-10 competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Explorers kept the contest close through the first half, trailing by one at intermission after a goal by VCU in the fifth minute.
• Midway through the third quarter, the Rams exploded for three goals in a span of 5:42 to take a four-goal cushion into the final quarter of play.
• La Salle had a chance early in the fourth to get closer, but freshman Samie Hackman was denied by VCU's Cailin Bownas.
• The Rams tacked on a fifth goal in the 51st minute to close the scoring.
