PHILADELPHIA – After a week off from game action, the La Salle University men's soccer team will head to George Mason for a key Atlantic 10 Conference match on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Explorers suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Villanova in their last outing on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
- Freshman Isak Sedin scored his second goal in three games and La Salle had a man-up advantage down the stretch, but Villanova snuck in the winner in the 88th minute.
- Rookie Luis Puchol recorded his first collegiate assist, while sophomore Nigel Buckley took four shots and freshman Colin Bateman put two shots on goal. Freshman Carlos Mora made a pair of saves in net.
ATLANTIC 10 OUTLOOK
- La Salle enters the matchup tied with George Washington for the eighth and final spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship with six points each.
- George Mason, meanwhile, is just ahead of La Salle with nine points in a four-way tie for fourth place.
- With only two games to follow against Massachusetts (1-4 A-10) and St. Bonaventure (1-5 A-10), a win over George Mason would greatly improve the Explorers chances of making a playoff push.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
- The Patriots got off to a shaky start but have recollected in conference play. They are 4-9-1 overall and 3-2 in the A-10.
- George Mason suffered a 3-1 defeat at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, however, the Bonnies' first league win of the year. The Patriots have conference wins over George Washington, Dayton and Davidson.
- Tunde Akinlosotu paces the offense with 11 points on three goals and five assists, while Ryan Mingachos has tallied four goals and two helpers.
- In net, Brison Moorhead has done most of the heavy lifting with a 1.62 goals against average and a .736 save percentage over eight games.
